PUPPETS OCCUPY STREET Festival, AIR EDITION 2017

The largest animation art festival in Romania, Puppets Occupy Street, dedicated exclusively to private theater companies and independent artists, created for the community, occupies the streets of Craiova for the fourth consecutive year from 25 August to 1 September!

Organized by the Colibri Theater, funded by the Town Hall and the Municipal Council of Craiova, run with the support of autonomous administrations, culture institutions, law enforcement and volunteers, Puppets Occupy Street is a puppet and story marathon, designed to highlight the complexity of the puppet actor and the beauty of the animation theater.

255 events will take place concurrently in 18 spaces and include 100 shows, 60 workshops, 3 parades, 3 concerts, 89 related events (exhibitions, video projections, happenings, visual arts and plastic arts, videomapping, childhood games, Sand Art, facepainting, etc.).

The 2017 Air Edition brings to Craiova private theater companies and independent artists from 14 countries: Brazil, Argentina, Turkey, Italy, Spain, Ukraine, Russia, Bulgaria, Poland, Great Britain, Switzerland, Germany, France and Romania.

The spaces where the 255 events will be held are at the Museum of Art, The House of Banie, County Library Al. and Aristia Aman, Colibri Theater, The Mutifunctional Center, in the Old Center - Buzeşti Brothers Square, Mihai Viteazu Square, William Shakespeare Square, Nicolae Romanescu Park (Summer Theater and Foişor area), Pushkin Park, St. Dumitru Park, Botanical Garden and in the neighborhoods  Rovine, Brazda lui Novac, Lăpuş Argeş, Valea Roşie, Craiovaţa Nouă - Racheta area.

Puppets Occupy Street Festival is supported by institutions subordinated to the Town Hall and the Craiova Local Council: RAADPFL, Salubritate Craiova, RAT Craiova, Water Company Oltenia, Multifunctional Center, SC Craiova S.R.L, Termo Craiova S.R.L., Local Police Craiova, institutions subordinated to Dolj County Council: Oltenia Museum, County Library Al. and Aristia Aman, Art Museum and also by the Dolj County Gendarmerie Inspectorate and Mobile Gendarmes Group "Buzeşti Fraţi" Craiova, The Emergency Situation Inspectorate, House of Culture for Students. Along with the Colibri Theater, the festival will be joining also by the JCI Craiova volunteers, the Vasiliada Association, the Best Life Social Center.

Since the 2014 edition, followed by the editions dedicated to Water and Fire, the Puppets Occupy Street Festival has gathered over 100,000 spectators.

Surprises will not be missed, both by puppet spectacularity and by the novelty and quality of the shows, so Craiova will become a public scene where joy, candor, art of animation and top-quality events will meet.
